Bidding farewell to the Dutch Grand Prix

There is a specific kind of energy that takes over Zandvoort when Formula 1 comes to the coast, but this weekend felt different. The grandstands were a wall-to-wall sea of orange, and you could literally feel the ground vibrate every time the cars tore past. Knowing this was the final Dutch Grand Prix for the foreseeable future gave every moment an extra bit of weight.

For our team at AMEXIO NL, this race carried some real sentimental value. We’ve been trackside for every single Dutch GP since its return in 2021. Wrapping up a six-year run made the whole weekend feel like the end of a very cool chapter.

High Drama on Lap Two

F1 rarely sticks to a script, and the track gave everyone a reality check early on. Watching Max Verstappen hit the wall on lap two, red-flagging his own home race right in front of his home crowd was an absolute gut punch for the stands. The silence across the circuit was unreal. But that unpredictability is ultimately why we watch live sport, and the crowd picked the energy right back up.

What’s next?

With the curtain coming down on this chapter, the big question is whether F1 will ever come back to the dunes. Circuit director Jan Lammers mentioned that Zandvoort still meets all the required F1 standards, so the door isn't completely slammed shut. But as he pointed out, the global queue for a spot on the calendar is long, and any potential return won't happen quickly.

Either way, this six-year streak has given us memories, stories, and partnerships that will stick around for a long time.
